Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys Soccer Wins Parker Cup Opener

Boys Soccer won their second game of the season vs. Preuss UCSD 3-2 in the opening game of the Parker Cup.  Two of Santana’s five loses last season were to Preuss UCSD.  Both loses 1-0 with Preuss UCSD knocking the Sultans out of the quarterfinals of last years D3 CIF playoffs.  This year both teams moved up to D2 and the Sultans got revenge.  Santana’s Nick Valentine scored first putting the Sultans up 1-0.  Preuss UCSD tied it late in the first half 1-1.  Then 3 min into the second half Preuss UCSD scored off a Sultans defender (Own Goal).  Santana did not give up with 10th Grader Davin Burroughs tying the game with a rocket shot from 35 yards almost 40 yards out in the upper right corner of the net beating Preuss UCSD goal keeper.  The tying goal sparked the Sultans offense with Lane Dukes scoring the game winner with 4 min left in the game putting Santana up for good 3-2.  Santana is now 2-0 on the season and play Patrick Henry Friday night at 7pm at Patrick Henry in the second round of the Parker Cup.
