Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys Soccer Loses Heartbreaking Game In Battle of Ranked Teams

Boys Soccer moved up this year from D3 to D2 and has played one of the toughest schedules in years and has proven they belong with the top teams in the county. Santana came into tonights game vs. Mission Hills as the 11th ranked team in the county and Mission Hills ranked 12th in the county by Maxpreps Rankings.  The game lived up to the hype with both teams having a few opportunities in the first half but were even at half 0-0.  The Second half both teams played well and then fireworks went off in the final 10 min.  In the 72 minute Mission Hills was rewarded a Penalty Kick and they scored from the free kick giving them a 1-0 lead.  Santana did not give up creating chances to score all the way to the final whistle.  Final Mission Hills 1 Santana 0. Overall Santana finished their non-league play with a 11-4-1 record and will start Grossmont Hills league play this Wednesday.  Santana won the Grossmont Valley League last season and has moved up to the Hills league for the first time.  If Santana keeps up this high quality play look for them to compete for the Grossmont Hills League Championship and make a deep run into the D2 CIF playoffs.

Boys JV Soccer also played Mission Hills tonight and played an outstanding game.  The boys scored first putting them up 1-0 at half.  Mission Hills would tie the game in the 74min as the game ended up in a 1-1 tie.  The JV boys continued their outstanding play and finished their non league schedule with a 8-2-4 record.
