Multiple Teams · Girls Water Polo Loses Close Game In D2 Quarter Finals

Coming in as the #10 seed, lining up against the #2 seed after upsetting the #7 seed, and when that #2 seed was a powerful Poway squad, we certainly had our work cut out for us on Saturday night at Coggan Aquatic Center. It was 0-0 at the end of the 1st Quarter, thanks to our help defense, strong goaltending, and a team wide stern resolve to make the other team work extremely hard to beat us. The Wilson sisters were outstanding again, Hannah with 14 saves, Sarah with 4 steals. While Poway got on the board in the 2nd, and exposed some of our youth a little bit; only ceding 3 goals, on near perfect outside shots, in the half was just another testament to fine team defense. Poway would only score 6 total goals in the game, and they were well earned. We got on the board with a penalty shot from Stevie G in the 4th, and scored another late as well, from Maysen Seile but just could not generate the offense needed in the game to make it past our worthy opponents. It will be neat to see how Poway does the rest of the way in this tournament, now that our season is complete.
