  • Santana Sultans Clinches Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Clairemont
  • Santana Sultans ran off with the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over Clairemont on Monday. The game was tied at six with Santana batting in the top of the sixth when Shelby Holmquist singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
  • The Sultans earned the victory despite allowing Clairemont to score four runs in the first inning.
  • Santana opened up scoring in the first inning, when Madison Mendez hit a solo homer.
  • After Santana scored one run in the top of the third, Clairemont answered with one of their own. Sultans scored when Mendez hit a solo homer. Clairemont then answered when #6 grounded out, scoring one run.
  • Joey Barkhimer earned the victory on the rubber for Santana. She lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out one.
  • #30 took the loss for Clairemont. She lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and eight runs while striking out four.
  • Hailey Justice started the game for the Sultans. She lasted one and one-third innings, allowing five hits and five runs while walking one
  • Santana socked two home run on the day. Mendez went deep in the first and third innings.
