Boys Varsity Volleyball · Boys Volleyball Battles Morse

Congratulations to Santana boys volleyball for their thrilling victory over Morse this past Saturday! The match was close throughout the entire game with the first 3 sets being decided by only 2 points (24-26, 26-24, 26-24, 25-19). The Sultans battled back throughout the game and were led by their captains: senior outside hitter, Carson Burton, had 16 kills & 18 digs while sophomore setter, AJ Wilshusen, had 35 assists & 14 digs. Senior opposite, Alden Rasmusson, also added in a strong 14 kills while the underclassmen did their part with sophomore libero, Ean Lucero, anchoring the Santana defense with a season-high 42 digs & sophomore outside hitter, Ryan Schmid, chipped in with 5 kills & 21 digs.
“This was the type of game I’ve told the boys all season long that I know they could win,” said head varsity coach, KB Barcelona. “All in all I couldn’t have asked for more. Our seniors really showed how much they’ve developed as leaders on the team and I’m really proud of how our sophomores, along with our juniors, really stepped up when their number was called. We’ve been battling injuries and even just schedule conflicts getting everyone together at once the past couple weeks but the boys are really picking each other up and it shows. We’re going to keep working and looking forward to closing out the last few weeks of the season strong.”
