Sultan Boys Cross Country Team Finishes Season as Undefeated League Champs! Girls finish 2nd overall with only one loss. Congrats to Connor Cheary for being named Male Runner of the Year for the Grossmont Valley league. The Sultans claimed 6 of the 10 All-League spots for both the boys and girls teams. The Santana Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams defeated El Cajon in the 2nd meet of the season at Harry Griffen Park. Winning the boys race was sophomore Connor Cheary, while sophomore Mikayla Horning won the girls race. Both JV teams were also victorious. The next race is Friday 3/5 at West Hills.
Sports are slowing coming back as Purple Tier Sports have the go to compete! For the First time since last March Santana Athletics competed vs. other schools. Boys and Girls Cross Country did their first meet of the season on Friday afternoon and were motivated and very prepared! Both teams did an amazing job! Please
All Boys and Girls Interested in participating this year in Cross Country officially starts this Monday Feb. 1st Practice times (this week and next) are Mon through Fri 2:30-4:15 at the track. November’s Chick-fil-A athletes of the month go to Nathan Temple (12th) and Mikayla Horning (9th). Both athletes received gift cards to Chick-fil-A Santee and a T-shirt from Santana Athletics. Nathan a senior and quarterback of the football team lead the Sultans all season helping the football team to tie it’s best record in school history
Freshman Sultan, Mikayla Horning, placed 5th in the Div. 3 CIF cross country meet and earned a spot at the State meet next Saturday in Fresno. The girls team finished 8th overall. Mikayla’s time put her in top 5 in her division and All CIF as only a 9th grader! The boys team finished 5th
Boys Cross Country: Congrats to the Santana Boys Cross Country Team for finishing 1st at the League Finals meet and securing the Grossmont Valley League Championship! Six Sultans were in the top ten: Jack McMackin (2nd), Connor Cheary (4th), Jayson Oliver (5th), Mateo Graham (6th), Jayson Oliver (5th), James Stuermer (8th), and Cameron Bressler (10th).
Sultans Defeat Helix and remain 1st in league. Congrats to the boys team for defeating Helix! They are now 4-0 going into league finals on Nov. 16. The girls lost to Helix and are 3-1, but had a strong performance by freshman Mikayla Horning who won the race and remains undefeated in league.
